Welcome Banquet in Honour of H.E. Ma Zhaoxu
On the first of November 2013, ACPPRC together with NSW Australian Chinese Community, held a Welcome Banquet at Marigold Restaurant in honour of His Excellency Mr. Ma Zhaoxu, Ambassador Extraordinary & Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China to Australia. About 500 distinguished guests from different sectors of NSW were invited to attend the dinner.
 

Mr William Chiu, Chairman of ACPPRC, made a welcome speech. On behalf of NSW Australian Chinese Community, he extended to H.E. Ma Zhaoxu warmest welcome and best wishes on his assumption of Ambassador of the P.R.C to Australia. He said, "We sincerely wish the Australia China bilateral relationship will attain a great leap forward under H.E. Ambassador Ma's leadership".

The Hon. Barry O'Farrell MP, Premier of NSW, and Hon. Ernest Wong MLC, Representing NSW Opposition Leader Mr. John Robertson MP, delivered favourable addresses at the banquet. They both spoke highly of the contributions that the Chinese community have made for Australia, and looked forward to further promoting the Australia (especially NSW) -China relationship and cooperation.

 
 

H.E Ma Zhaoxu thanked the NSW Australian Chinese community for their supports and stressed his efforts to deepen China-Australian bilateral ties and win-win cooperation. He said, "the Chinese people are striving to realize the 'Chinese dream' of renewal of the nation, prosperity of the country, and happiness of the people. China is committed to peaceful development, reform and opening up. China is now adjusting its economic structure and transforming the pattern of economic growth for better performance, quality and sustainability of the economy... We hope that China and Australia could seize the opportunity and work together to upgrade our economic cooperation".

Vote of thanks was made by Mr. Frank Chou, senior honorary chairman of ACPPRC.
