MESSAGE FROM MR WILLIAM CHIU
CHAIRMAN OF ACPPRC

Ladies and gentlemen, good evening!

Welcome to the opening of this fundraising dinner for the “Eyes on China – Ningxia & Qinghai free cataract Operations”, jointly organized by Australian Council for the Promotion of Peaceful Reunification of China (ACPPRC) and NSW Parliament Asia-Pacific Friendship Group.

It has been 11 years since the first of its kind “Eyes on Tibet” was launched. This evening, we again gather together, to promote the traditional Chinese virtues of helping the weak and advocating the spirit of charity and love, and to promote the realization of China’s peaceful reunification. Please allow me on behalf of ACPPRC to warmly welcome all the distinguished guests, to extend our sincere gratitude and appreciation to all the community organizations and friends from all different backgrounds who have been consistent and faithful supporters of this charity over many years, and finally, to extend my best regards to all members of ACPPRC and the medical team for your hard work and dedication.

Now it is my honour to introduce the two special guests at the dinner tonight. His Excellency Lin Jun, head of the delegation of “Beauty of Tibet” Painting & Photography Exhibition in Australia, and the Chairman of All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, and His Excellency Li Huaxin, the new Consul General (Ambassadorial Rank) of the People’s Republic of China in Sydney. Let us please put our hands together again to make them feel welcomed.

Each year “Eyes on China” is strongly supported by both Australian and Chinese governments and people from all walks of life. ACPPRC is the unique overseas Chinese community that organises the medical experts and personnel of Australia, China’s mainland and Taiwan to provide free cataract operations in the poor and remote areas of China’s mainland. We advocate the integration of charitable activities into the cause of promoting the peaceful reunification of China. It is in these activities that we are able to share beauty, love, friendship and pursuit of a still more noble desire for a harmonious society.

ACPPRC “Eyes on China” has played a significant role in charity and building better people to people relationship between Australia and China and has been praised and acknowledged by the Australian and Chinese governments. At the Summit of the 40th Anniversary of Australia–China Diplomatic Relationship, the Premier of New South Wales, Hon. Barry O’Farrell spoke highly of ACPPRC’s unique role that can’t be replaced as a non-government organization in promoting the friendly cooperation and exchanges between Australia and China, which has written a brilliant chapter in history for the peoples’ friendship between China and Australia.

ACPPRC “Eyes on China” medical projects not only carry out cataract operations, but also provide trainings to the local eye doctors as well as donate advanced medical equipment and instruments to the local hospitals. An ophthalmic department of the Qinghai Tibetan Hospital is being established with the support by ACPPRC this year, this has enabled them to continue the treatment of eye patients after our medical team has left China.

Every one can play a role in charity. Love has no boundaries.Richard Mille Replica Watches The charitable work of “Eyes on China” needs more attention and more participants. Millions of cataract patients need our love and assistance. Let the flower of charity and the flower of harmony blossom much more generously in the journey to promoting the peaceful reunification of China.
