"Eyes on China-Inner Mongolia 2007" is the fifth annual free cataract medical mission organized by Australian Council for the Promotion of Peaceful Reunification of China (ACPPRC).
In the course of the last four missions, our medical teams traveled to the remote parts of Tibet, Sichuan, Yunnan and Xinjiang in China, to provide free operations to more than one thousand poverty stricken people of various ages and national minorities, thus enabling them to regain their valuable sight, wellbeing, and bright future. We also donated medical equipments valued over a few million Chinese dollars to local hospitals, and had set up a Training Centre for Eye Specialists in Chengdu to train local specialists.
Our work has gained support and accolades from here and abroad. Many more supporters volunteered their time and efforts to participate in this worthwhile mission. The success of all these missions is undoubtedly a collective effort of many Sino-Australian officials, medical team members, the magnanimous generous donors and many tireless workers. It is indeed a continuation and further development of the spirit of care and humanitarianism as carried out by the famous and respected Dr. Norman Bethune.
